And for me, this is my way of saying THANK YOU.
As Parents we hate to see our children ill, let alone in a Hospital bed.
I myself have spent half my childhood in a hospital bed with Nil by mouth written above my head on a chalkboard. I remember the Nurses trying to make me laugh, these days how things have changed, one thing is we now have the Giggle Doctors, the clip under here went out on TV in England, we had spent a few weeks on a ward with no sparkle, in our daughters eye, this was a hard time, stressful to, will she come back to us the happy cheeky little girl we loved so much. Then in walked a funny looking Doctor……… not someone coming to hurt her by sticking needles in her, this funny looking person was asking her questions, then for a tiny split second, she moved her head towards this Giggle Doctor. She smiled the sparkle in her eyes returned, this Giggle Doctor had helped turn that long-awaited corner, we had so hoped would return. While trying to think of a UK Charity we could help bring awareness to on this website, I asked theTheodora Children’s Charity, they sent me the info below, and we tracked the tv BBC Lifeline Appeal video down to add here. So for me, this is my way of saying THANK YOU.
These Giggle Doctors do an outstanding job for our ill children and a giggle or a smile from a child is in my view priceless. And with that in mind please visit theirwebsite, maybe your own child could be in need of their services.
The Theodora Children’s Charity believes that laughter is the best medicine. The Giggle Doctors visit children in hospitals, hospices, and specialist care centers across England. By combining music, play, magic, and storytelling these professional performers bring magical moments to brave children in challenging times. The charity believes that EVERY sick or disabled child should get the giggles that only a Giggle Doctor can bring. The charity was founded in 1994 by two brothers, in memory of their mother, Theodora Poulie. When one of Theodora’s son was hospitalized for many months as a child, she brought joy, laughter, and storytelling to his bedside through her regular visits. Theodora inspired her sons to bring magical moments to all sick and disabled children. To date, the lives of over half a million children have been improved thanks to the Giggle Doctor programme that they created.
“We first met the Giggle Doctors about 2 weeks after my six-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Up to that point, she cried every time someone in a uniform came near her. When the Giggle Doctors arrived all we heard was laughter and lots of smiles and this has continued ever since! For this, I will always be grateful to you.” A parent.

Sullivan’s Heroes is a charity offering support and financial assistance for families raising essential funds for vital home adaptations for a disabled child, to continue to care for their child at home, safely and with dignity.
About this Charity
There are numerous families in the UK with disabled children, needing to adapt their homes to meet the child’s care and health requirements. Whilst council grants may be available, in many cases, these don’t fulfill the needs and additional funds, often quite substantial, are required for the building project.
Sullivan’s Heroes offers fundraising support specifically for these much-needed home adaptations. The charity raises funds to provide a fundraising platform and financial grants to help these families striving to create the optimal environment to continue to care for their child at home, safely and with dignity.
