Recurrent tracheo-esophageal fistula after surgery for esophageal atresia is a known problem. This video clip demonstrate endoscopic management, i.e. cauterisation of fistula with injection of adhesive glue. Fibrin sealant, or fibrin “glue,” is a unique surgical hemostatic/sealant/adhesive material that is being used with increasing frequency in a variety of surgical situations. In practice, it is a two-component system in which a solution of concentrated fibrinogen and factor XIII are combined with a solution of thrombin and calcium to form a coagulum, simulating the final stage of the clotting cascade. Once the thrombin/calcium is combined with the fibrinogen/factor XIII, a fibrin clot forms in seconds.

Esophageal atresia is a rare congenital disorder in which the esophagus does not develop properly. This disorder is often detected before birth through ultrasound examinations. If not, the disorder is diagnosed at birth. In 85 percent of cases, the esophagus does not connect with the lower esophagus and stomach. Sometimes the top of the esophagus connects with the windpipe and can cause food to be stuck.
